Ingredients
1 box puff pastry thawed (2 rolls)
1-8oz package cream cheese at room temperature
2/3 cup granulated sugar
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon almond extract
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
sliced almonds
powdered sugar for dusting
Egg wash:
1 large egg
1 teaspoon milk or cream
Directions:
Preheat oven to 400F. Into a bowl, add in the cream cheese, sugar, vanilla extract and almond extract. Then, whisk until a creamy texture is formed.
Sprinkle a small amount of flour on your counter before rolling out your puff pastry. Roll out, just until smooth.
Use a pizza cutter to make even rectangles on your puff pastry. Then, place each rectangle on a sheet pan lined with parchment paper.
Score rectangular shapes in the middle of the puff pastry dough with a knife. Do not make deep cuts into the dough.
Place a tablespoon of cream cheese filling in the middle of the scored rectangles and spread the filling evenly.
Garnish the cream cheese filling with sliced almonds.
Make your egg wash, by whisking one egg and one teaspoon of milk. Brush your egg wash on the outer edges of the dough.
Bake for 15 minutes and allow the danishes to cool.
Dust each danish with powdered sugar and enjoy!
